FAAN Amjad Mystery vs FAAN Qasida Queen: which FAAN perfume should you buy?

Quick answer: Amjad Mystery vs Qasida Queen comes down to nutty and floral against cherry and coffee. Choose Mystery if you want a smooth, unisex amber with hazelnut, saffron and rose at €54.99. Choose Queen if you want a louder, sweeter, darker gourmand for her at €51.99. Both are made for autumn and winter evenings.
Both bottles hold 200 ml and sit in the sweet end of the range, which is why people hesitate. We are an independent retailer, so the facts below come straight from the notes, ratings and prices on the product pages: Amjad Mystery from the Amjad line and Qasida Queen from the Qasida line.
The verdict in three lines
- Mystery is the softer, nuttier, floral-amber one. Extrait, strength 3, longevity 4.
- Queen is the bolder, cherry-and-coffee one. Eau de Parfum, strength 4, longevity 4.
- Queen costs €3 less, but Mystery is listed for everyone, not only for her.

They share vanilla in the base and a jasmine in the heart. Only Mystery has hazelnut, frankincense, saffron, rose, osmanthus, ambergris and akigalawood. Only Queen has cherry, clove, pink pepper, cashmeran, amber, patchouli and coffee. That is a long list of differences for two bottles that both smell sweet.
First hour and dry-down
Mystery opens with juicy pear, then hazelnut, creamy and slightly roasted, and a thread of frankincense smoke. Within the first hour the rose and saffron take over and the nut steps back. The finish is sandalwood and vanilla over ambergris, smooth and warm.
Queen opens with ripe dark cherry, with clove and pink pepper giving it a spicy bite. After about half an hour the orange blossom and jasmine appear, held up by cashmeran. The finish is vanilla and amber, darkened by patchouli and coffee. By hour three Queen is mostly coffee, vanilla and earth.
If you dislike fruit up front, both have it, but Mystery's pear is gentle and Queen's cherry is the stronger statement.
Strength and staying power
Mystery is 3 out of 5 for strength and 4 out of 5 for longevity: it stays close and lasts. Queen is 4 and 4: it reaches further and lasts as long. In practice, two sprays of Mystery suit a dinner table. Queen will be noticed by the next table, so start with two and add a third only for a night out. As a typical range for these ratings, expect most of an evening from both, and longer on clothes. That is a general figure, not a test result.
Season, occasion, audience and price
Both are listed for autumn and winter and for date nights and special occasions. Mystery is unisex. Queen is listed for her, though the notes themselves are not gendered. Our article on whether Qasida Queen is for men goes into it.
Mystery is €54.99 for 200 ml, about 27.5 cents a ml. Queen is €51.99, about 26 cents a ml. The €3 gap is small, and both bottles hold 200 ml. Queen, the cheaper of the two, is the one with more projection and a different sweetness.
Who should pick which
- Choose Mystery if you want a rich scent that is not heavy, you like nuts and flowers more than fruit, or you want a unisex bottle.
- Choose Queen if you want a gourmand with cherry and coffee, you want more presence in a room, or you buy for someone who likes dark sweet scents.
- Choose neither if you like fresh or dry scents. Look at Amjad Coral or Qasida Al-Badr.

FAQ
Is Amjad Mystery sweeter than Qasida Queen?
Both are sweet. Queen is the sweeter at first because of the cherry, but coffee and patchouli dry it down. Mystery is creamier and nuttier.
Which lasts longer?
Both are rated 4 out of 5 for longevity. Queen projects more strongly.
Which is better for a gift?
Mystery is unisex, so it is the easier gift. Queen is a good choice for someone who already likes sweet, dark scents.
