A bottle of perfume is a good gift. It is personal, it is useful and it does not go in a drawer. The risk is choosing the wrong scent. This guide helps you pick a FAAN perfume as a gift, by the type of person you are buying for. All bottles are 200 ml, which makes a generous present.

Before you choose

Three questions narrow it down fast.

Do they like sweet scents, fresh scents or smoky ones? Think of what they wear now, or what candles they burn.
When will they wear it? Daily, for evenings, for special occasions?
Do they like a big scent or a quiet one?

If you do not know the answers, pick a safe option. Safe means warm, not too sweet, and not too strong.

Qasida Signature

FAAN Qasida Signature is warm and gourmand: praline, vanilla, almond, cinnamon and amber. It suits men and women, and most people like it. A very good first choice.

Qasida Al-Badr

FAAN Qasida Al-Badr is dry, powdery and calm. It is easy to wear every day and unlikely to offend. Good for a colleague or an in-law.

For her

Qasida Queen has cherry, vanilla, amber and coffee. It is listed for date nights. Qasida Senses is fruity and floral, with pear, peony and vanilla, listed for spring and summer. Qasida Purity is soft and creamy, with pear, jasmine and cashmere musk. Choose Purity for someone who likes quiet scents.

For him

Qasida Sahm is written for him. Fruit first, then lavender and cedar, then oud and leather. Qasida Dunes is for the man who likes pepper and smoke. Both are Eau de Parfum.

For someone who loves strong perfume

Amjad Honour and Amjad Kingdom are Extraits with frankincense, amber and ambergris. Honour is the spicier one. Kingdom is the cooler, powdery one. They are bold gifts for people who already know they like depth.

For someone who likes fresh

Amjad Coral is the only really fresh bottle: pear, mandarin, ginger and cedar. A good gift for summer birthdays.

Gift timing and delivery

Plan ahead. Orders to the Netherlands take 3 to 6 working days in total: 1 to 2 for processing and 2 to 4 for transport. To the rest of the EU it is 5 to 8 working days: 2 to 3 for processing and 3 to 5 for transport. Shipping is free in the Netherlands from €75. For birthdays and holidays, order at least two weeks before the date to be safe.

Some bottles may show as sold out. In that case, ask to be notified on the product page and choose a second option in the meantime.

Gift tips

Stay away from very sweet or very heavy scents if you do not know the person.
Tell them the notes. A card with the top, heart and base lines turns a bottle into a story.
Read our shipping and returns page before you buy, in case the recipient needs to send it back.
Add a small atomiser so they can carry some of it around.

By occasion

What to avoid

Do not buy a very strong Extrait for someone who wears no perfume. Do not buy a sweet gourmand for someone who hates sweet smells. And do not guess a scent for a person who wears a signature perfume every day. In that case, a different kind of gift may serve better.

If the gift is for a partner

Look at what they wear now. Check the bottle on their shelf and think about what they say they like: sweet, woody or fresh. Pick something close to it but a step bolder, so the gift feels like a small surprise and not a stranger. If you are really unsure, Signature and Al-Badr are the two bottles least likely to miss.
