FAAN Qasida perfumes: all nine bottles explained

A qasida is a classical Arabic ode. The Qasida line from FAAN has nine perfumes, all in 200 ml bottles, and each one reads like its own poem. Some are sweet and warm. Some smell of smoke and leather. Two are soft and clean. This guide goes through all nine so you can see which one fits you before you open a product page.
We are an independent retailer of FAAN fragrances. Everything below comes from the notes listed on each product page and from how the scents are built. We have not invented anything about the house itself.
How the Qasida line is built
Eight of the nine are Eau de Parfum. Qasida Bidaya is an Extrait de Parfum, so it sits a little closer to the skin and lasts a little longer. The line leans warm: amber, vanilla, wood, spice. But there is range. You can find a fruity oud, a powdery iris, a white floral and a coffee-vanilla scent in the same family.
Most of the line is unisex. Qasida Queen and Qasida Senses are written for her, and Qasida Sahm is written for him. In practice, nobody checks.
Warm and sweet
Qasida Signature
FAAN Qasida Signature is the one to start with if you like gourmand scents. Bergamot, cinnamon and almond open it. Orange blossom, coconut and guaiacwood sit in the middle. Praline, vanilla, dry amber and cashmeran carry the base. It is sweet, but the dry amber and the wood keep it from turning sticky. Our full notes are in the Qasida Signature review.
Qasida Queen
FAAN Qasida Queen opens with cherry, clove and pink pepper. Orange blossom and jasmine follow. The base is vanilla, amber, patchouli and coffee. Think dark cherry, a cup of coffee and a warm coat. It is written for her, but anyone who likes dark sweet scents will enjoy it.
Smoky, spicy and dry
Qasida Bakhour
Bakhoor is the incense that Arabic homes burn on special evenings. FAAN Qasida Bakhour opens with saffron, clove and blackcurrant. The heart has rose, violet, incense and tonka. Sandalwood, cistus, leather and vanilla finish it. It smells like a room after guests have left, in the good sense.
Qasida Dunes
FAAN Qasida Dunes is the driest of the nine. Olibanum, black pepper and white pepper at the top. Patchouli, cypriol and leather in the heart. Sandalwood, sugar and labdanum underneath. The pepper is sharp at first, then it settles into smoky leather with a little sweetness.
Qasida Bidaya
Bidaya means beginning. FAAN Qasida Bidaya is the only Extrait in the line. Saffron, bergamot and cardamom open it. Opoponax and cedarwood form the heart. Vanilla bean, benzoin, leather and white musk close it. It is resinous and soft at the same time.
Fruity, fresh and clean
Qasida Al-Badr
Calm, dry and slightly powdery. FAAN Qasida Al-Badr opens with bergamot, nutmeg and cardamom. Iris, sage and cedarwood sit in the heart. Vetiver, tonka, vanilla and patchouli make the base. This is the easiest of the line to wear every day. Read more in the Al-Badr review.
Qasida Purity
FAAN Qasida Purity is the softest bottle. Pear, fig nectar and lily of the valley open it. Ylang-ylang, sambac jasmine and tuberose make the heart white and creamy. Cashmere musk, sandalwood milk and vanilla finish it. It stays close to the skin and does not push.
Qasida Senses
FAAN Qasida Senses is for her and it is fruity and floral. Jasmine, pear, bergamot, raspberry and pink pepper at the top. Peony, damask rose, iris, lily of the valley and bourbon vanilla in the heart. White musk, sandalwood and patchouli at the base. Light enough for spring.
Qasida Sahm
FAAN Qasida Sahm is written for him. It starts with fruit: mango, lemon, raspberry, ginger, green mandarin. The heart adds lavender, jasmine, cardamom and cedar. Then the base turns dark: oud, leather accord, vetiver, amber and musk. Fruit first, oud last. See the Qasida Sahm review.
