FAAN Qasida Signature vs FAAN Qasida Bidaya: which FAAN perfume should you buy?

FAAN Qasida Signature Eau de Parfum 200 ml bottle

Quick answer: Qasida Signature vs Qasida Bidaya: both are unisex, both rate 3 out of 5 for projection and 4 out of 5 for longevity, and both are listed for autumn and winter. Choose Signature for sweet praline, almond and cinnamon. Choose Bidaya for dry saffron, resin and leather, and €10 less.

The verdict in three lines

  • Signature is the dessert: praline, almond, vanilla.
  • Bidaya is the incense cupboard: saffron, sweet resin, leather.
  • Same strength, so the choice is taste, not power.

Only in Signature: cinnamon, almond, orange blossom, coconut, guaiacwood, praline, dry amber and cashmeran. Only in Bidaya: saffron, opoponax, cedarwood, benzoin, leather and white musk.

First hour and dry-down

Signature opens bright and spiced. Bergamot lifts it, cinnamon and cardamom warm it, and almond gives it a marzipan edge. By the second hour orange blossom and coconut make it creamy, and guaiacwood adds a thin line of smoke. The finish is praline and vanilla over dry amber, with cashmeran as a soft blanket.

Bidaya starts with saffron, which smells golden, leathery and a little medicinal, with bergamot and cardamom for lift. The heart is opoponax, a sweet balsamic resin, and cedarwood, which keeps it dry. The finish is vanilla bean, benzoin and leather on white musk. It is vanilla without sugar.

Strength and staying power

On the product pages both bottles carry projection 3 out of 5 and longevity 4 out of 5. These are our ratings, not lab numbers. In practice both sit close to the skin, last into the late evening and leave a trace on a scarf the next day. Bidaya is an Extrait and Signature an Eau de Parfum, but the product ratings put them level, so do not choose on that.

Two to three sprays suits either. Our guide on wearing and storing a 200 ml perfume has more on placement.

Season, occasion, audience and price

Both are listed for autumn and winter, for evenings and special occasions, and both are unisex. Neither is an office bottle by its listing, though one spray of Bidaya is quieter in a shared room.

The price gap is the one practical difference: Signature costs €54.99 and Bidaya €44.99. Both are 200 ml. If you buy two bottles in the Netherlands, shipping is free from €75, and any two bottles, Bidaya included, cross that line.

Who should pick which

  • Choose Signature if you like sweet, warm, gourmand scents; if you want the easiest crowd-pleaser; or if cinnamon and almond are your idea of autumn.
  • Choose Bidaya if you prefer dry, resinous and a little smoky; if you like saffron and leather; or if you want the lower price.

If you cannot decide, our suggestion is to treat them as a pair: Signature for mild evenings, Bidaya for the cold ones. Both are cardamom bottles at heart. For the note itself, read cardamom in perfume. If you are still unsure, the choosing guide sorts the whole range, and all fourteen bottles are on one page. If either shows as sold out, ask to be notified on the product page.

FAQ

Which is sweeter, Qasida Signature or Qasida Bidaya?

Signature. Praline, almond, coconut and vanilla make it a dessert scent. Bidaya has vanilla bean too, but dry resin and leather keep it from tasting sweet.

Which lasts longer?

They are rated the same: longevity 4 out of 5 on both product pages.

Why is Qasida Bidaya cheaper if it is an Extrait?

The price is set per product. Bidaya is €44.99 and Signature is €54.99, even though Bidaya has the higher concentration.
