Layering FAAN Amjad Honour with FAAN Qasida Signature: smoke over sugar

Quick answer: To layer Amjad Honour and Qasida Signature, put Signature on skin first, add one spray of Honour on a scarf or collar, and keep the total to three sprays. The aim is smoke over sugar: Honour's frankincense, oud and resin on top of Signature's praline, vanilla and amber. This is our suggestion, not a rule from the maker, so test it on paper before you wear it.
FAAN Amjad Honour is a 200 ml Extrait with projection 4 and longevity 5. FAAN Qasida Signature is a 200 ml Eau de Parfum with projection 3 and longevity 4. Both are listed for autumn and winter, which helps.
Why this pair and what it is aiming for
Both bottles are warm, and both are built on amber and vanilla. The difference is what sits on top. Honour is dry and smoky, with incense and spice. Signature is sweet and round, with nut and sugar. Layered, you get a gourmand with a dark edge: a sweet scent that does not feel childish, or a resinous scent that feels softer. Our single-bottle guides, the Honour review and the Signature review, show each one alone.
What each brings
| Honour | Signature | |
|---|---|---|
| Top | Frankincense, elemi, cardamom, lemon, Sichuan pepper | Bergamot, cinnamon, almond, cardamom |
| Heart | Patchouli, rose, saffron, orange blossom, geranium | Orange blossom, coconut, guaiacwood |
| Base | Vanilla, amber, oud, ambergris, benzoin | Praline, vanilla, dry amber, cashmeran |
The overlap is the reason this pairing makes sense: both share cardamom on top, orange blossom in the heart and vanilla and amber underneath. Those notes act like a bridge.
How to layer Amjad Honour and Qasida Signature: order, sprays, spacing
- Spray Signature first: one spray on the chest, one on the back of the neck.
- Wait five minutes so the sweetness settles.
- Add one spray of Honour on a scarf, a collar or the inside of a jacket, not on skin.
- Stop at three sprays in total.
Honour is the louder and longer of the two, so it gets the smaller share. Two parts Signature to one part Honour is a safe start. Reverse it only once you know you like the mix.
What you should smell at one hour and at six
These are expectations from the notes, not guarantees, so check on yourself.
- At one hour: cinnamon, almond and cardamom with a smoky edge from the frankincense. The sweet and the dry are still fighting for the lead.
- At six hours: the base. Vanilla, amber, benzoin and praline in a warm, resinous blur, with oud and ambergris holding the sugar in place.
Honour carries the long tail, because its longevity is 5 against Signature's 4.
Where it clashes or turns heavy
- Cinnamon, Sichuan pepper and saffron can pile into one hot spice. If you feel a tingle in your nose, you have used too much.
- Praline, vanilla and benzoin are three sweet-sticky notes. In a warm room the mix can turn thick.
- If the openings fight, you will notice within ten minutes. Wash it off and wear one bottle alone.
- Skip the pair on sensitive days, in heat or in a small office.
Wearing it: season and occasion
It belongs to cold evenings: dinners, parties, a winter wedding. In summer it is too much, which is why our note on Honour in the heat applies double. Test the mix on a card first: spray both, wave, wait an hour. If you like what you smell, wear it. If you want to understand the two before you layer, the Honour versus Signature comparison lists all the differences, and all FAAN perfumes are one click away.
FAQ
Can you layer two FAAN perfumes?
Yes. There is no rule against it. We suggest you test on a card, use fewer sprays than you would alone, and avoid pairing two strong bottles in warm weather.
Which one goes on first?
Start with Signature, the sweeter and softer one, and add Honour as an accent.
How many sprays in total?
Three. More than that and the pair gets loud.
