FAAN Amjad Honour review: notes, strength and when to wear it

FAAN Amjad Honour 200 ml Extrait de Parfum bottle

FAAN Amjad Honour is the bottle people ask about most in the Amjad line. It is a resinous, spicy Extrait de Parfum in 200 ml, built around frankincense, saffron and oud. This is not a customer review and there are no stars here. It is a plain description of the scent, drawn from the notes on the product page, so you know what you are getting before you buy.

Faan Perfumes is an independent retailer of FAAN fragrances. You can find the bottle itself at FAAN Amjad Honour. Some people search for it as Amjad Honor. It is the same perfume.

Notes

  • Top: frankincense, elemi, cardamom, lemon, Sichuan pepper
  • Heart: patchouli, rose, saffron, orange blossom, geranium
  • Base: vanilla, amber, oud, ambergris, benzoin

The main accords are amber, woody, spicy and resinous. It is listed as unisex.

How it smells, minute by minute

The first spray is bright and sharp. Lemon and Sichuan pepper give a quick tingle, and frankincense brings a dry, smoky edge. This part lasts about ten minutes. It smells like a cold stone room with a candle in it.

Then the heart opens. Patchouli and rose come forward. Saffron adds a warm, slightly leathery spice. Orange blossom and geranium keep it from turning heavy. The mix is floral but not sweet.

The base is where Honour stays. Vanilla and amber make it warm. Benzoin makes it sticky and soft. Oud and ambergris sit underneath and give the scent weight. After a few hours it smells like skin that has been near a fire, with a faint sweetness.

The notes explained

  • Elemi: a fresh, lemony, peppery resin. It makes the frankincense feel lighter.
  • Sichuan pepper: citrusy and tingling rather than hot.
  • Geranium: rosy, green and a little minty. It sits between the rose and the spice.
  • Benzoin: a sweet resin with a vanilla and cinnamon feel.
  • Ambergris: a salty, warm, skin-like note that makes the base smooth.

Strength and staying power

We rate the projection at 4 out of 5 and the longevity at 5 out of 5. In plain terms: you will smell it on yourself for most of a day, and people near you will notice it. Two sprays are plenty. Three is a lot.

It is an Extrait de Parfum. That is the most concentrated type, with more fragrance oil than Eau de Parfum, so it sits close and holds on. To get the best from a 200 ml Extrait, read our guide on how to wear and store a 200 ml perfume.

When to wear it

  • Autumn and winter, especially evenings.
  • Special occasions, dinners, weddings.
  • Cold, dry days when you want a scent that holds up under a coat.

It is less happy in summer heat. If you do wear it then, use one spray on clothes, not on skin.

Who it suits

If you like resins, incense and amber, you will probably like Honour. If you like fresh, citrus or sporty scents, you will not. It is not a shy perfume. It suits people who like a scent to have presence. It also works on anyone: the unisex label is real.

Honour next to its neighbours

Amjad Kingdom is similar in strength but cooler and powdery, thanks to violet and ambrette. Amjad Mystery is sweeter and nuttier, with hazelnut. Amjad Coral is fresh. A word on oud

Oud is a dark, resin-rich wood used in Arabic perfume for centuries. It can smell smoky, sweet, leathery or even a little medicinal. In Honour it is one note among several, sitting under amber and benzoin, so it adds depth and not a hospital edge. If you have never worn oud, this is a gentle first step.

FAQ

Is Amjad Honour the same as Amjad Honor?

Yes. Honour is the spelling used on our product page. Honor is a common alternative spelling.

Does Amjad Honour contain oud?

Oud is listed in the base notes, together with amber, vanilla, ambergris and benzoin.

How many sprays should I use?

Start with two. It is an Extrait, so it lasts long and needs less than a lighter perfume.

Is it a men's or women's perfume?

It is listed as unisex.
