How long do FAAN perfumes last?

The question we hear most is simple: how long does it last? There is no single answer, because it depends on the bottle, the weather and your skin. But the FAAN range gives us some real data to work with. Every product page lists a longevity rating from 1 to 5, and the notes tell you why.
We are an independent retailer of FAAN fragrances. The ratings below are the ones on our product pages. They are guides, not lab results.
The ratings, bottle by bottle
Longevity 5 out of 5
- Amjad Honour: frankincense, oud, amber, ambergris, benzoin.
- Amjad Kingdom: labdanum, ambergris, musk, amber, benzoin.
Longevity 4 out of 5
- Qasida Signature, Qasida Sahm, Qasida Bakhour, Qasida Dunes, Qasida Queen, Qasida Bidaya.
- Amjad Mystery and Amjad Status.
Longevity 3 out of 5
The pattern is easy to see. Resins, amber, ambergris and oud hold on. Citrus, pear, light florals and clean musks fade sooner.
Why some perfumes last longer
A perfume has three layers. Top notes, such as citrus and fruit, are small molecules. They evaporate in minutes. Heart notes, such as flowers and spice, last for an hour or two. Base notes, such as amber, vanilla, wood, musk and resin, are large molecules that stay for hours.
So a perfume built on a heavy base lasts longer. Look at Honour: vanilla, amber, oud, ambergris and benzoin. That is a base made to stay. Compare it with Coral, which has pear and mandarin up front and light woods and musk below. It is pleasant, but it is lighter on the skin.
Concentration matters
Extrait de Parfum holds more fragrance oil than Eau de Parfum, so on average it lasts longer. That is true in the FAAN range too: both bottles at 5 out of 5 are Extraits. But it is not a rule. An Eau de Parfum with a strong base, such as Qasida Dunes, can outlast a light Extrait.
What your skin does
Dry skin loses scent faster. Oily skin holds it longer. That is why a scent can last four hours on one person and eight on another. If your skin is dry, apply an unscented moisturiser first. It gives the perfume something to hold on to.
Weather matters too
Heat makes scent project more but disappear sooner. Cold keeps it close and slow. This is why heavy scents feel better in winter, and why a 4 out of 5 in January may feel like a 3 in July. See our guide on the best FAAN perfumes for autumn and winter.
How to get more hours from any bottle
- Spray after a shower, on moisturised skin.
- Spray clothes as well. Fabric holds scent for days.
- Do not rub the wrists.
- Store the bottle away from heat and light.
- Do not judge by the first hour. The base notes appear later.
The storage and application tips are covered in full in how to wear and store a 200 ml perfume.
Projection is different from longevity
Longevity is how long you can smell it. Projection, also called sillage, is how far it reaches. A scent can last all day and sit close, like Qasida Purity, or travel far and fade quickly. The product pages rate both. If you want people to notice you, look at projection. If you want to apply once and forget, look at longevity.

Three myths about longevity
- "More sprays means longer." Not really. More sprays means louder, not longer. The base notes decide how long it stays.
- "If I cannot smell it, it is gone." Your nose adapts. Ask someone you trust, or smell your sleeve.
- "Extrait always beats Eau de Parfum." Usually, but not always. The note structure matters as much as the concentration.
How to read the ratings
A 3 out of 5 is not weak. It means a clear scent for a few hours, which is what many people want for work. A 5 means the scent is still on your skin late in the evening and on your clothes the next morning. Neither is better. Pick the number that fits your day: a long dinner calls for a 4 or 5, an office day is fine with a 3.
FAQ
Which FAAN perfume lasts the longest?
Amjad Honour and Amjad Kingdom both carry a 5 out of 5 longevity rating on our product pages.
How long does Eau de Parfum last?
Typically four to eight hours, depending on the scent and your skin.
Why does my perfume fade after an hour?
You may be used to it. The nose stops registering a smell after a while. Others can still smell it.
Does a bigger bottle last longer on the skin?
No. The size of the bottle does not change how the scent wears. It only means you have more of it.
