Sweet perfumes ranked: all FAAN perfumes from sweetest to driest

Quick answer: Sweet perfumes ranked from the FAAN range: Qasida Signature is the sweetest, then Qasida Queen and Qasida Senses, and the driest are Qasida Dunes, Qasida Al-Badr and Amjad Coral. We ranked thirteen bottles by reading their notes and accords. It is our own reading, not a lab measurement, and Amjad Status is left out because it has no notes listed.
How we ranked: accords and notes, not marketing
We looked at three things on each product page. First, accords that say gourmand, vanilla, creamy or fruity count as sweet, and accords that say aromatic, woody or leather count as dry. Second, sweet base notes such as praline, vanilla, amber and coffee lift a bottle up the list, while pepper, vetiver, leather and cedar push it down. Third, we asked where in the pyramid the sweetness sits. Sweet in the top fades, sweet in the base stays. Ties were broken by the base.

The sweetest group
Signature, Queen and Senses lead. Signature is the dessert: praline and vanilla in the base, almond and cinnamon above. Queen is dark and sweet, with cherry, vanilla and coffee. Senses is sweet in a fruity-floral way, with raspberry and Bourbon vanilla. If you like sweet, vanilla in perfume shows nine bottles that carry it.
The middle
Mystery and Purity are sweet but soft: Mystery is nutty and smoky, Purity creamy and milky. Bidaya, Honour, Kingdom and Bakhour are resinous bottles that carry sweetness as a background, not as a main act. Honour is the best-known of them, and our note on frankincense in perfume shows why its sweetness stays dry.
The driest group
Dunes, Al-Badr and Coral are the driest. Al-Badr says it in its tagline: calm spice, powdery and dry. Dunes is pepper, smoke and dry leather. Coral has no sweet notes and is fresh. Sahm sits between the middle and the dry group: fruit opens it, and oud, leather and vetiver dry it down.
How to use the list
- You want sweet that stays: Signature, Queen and Mystery all have longevity 4. Senses and Purity are rated 3.
- You want sweet without sugar: go to the middle, where Bidaya, Honour and Bakhour keep vanilla in the background.
- You want to wear it in warm weather: the only sweet-leaning bottle listed for spring and summer is Senses. The driest, Coral, is listed for spring and summer too.
- You are unsure: start at the middle of the table and move up or down one place at a time.
Surprises
- Dunes lists sugar in the base, and still reads dry, because pepper, leather and cypriol hold the sweetness down.
- Honour has vanilla and benzoin, and still smells dry and smoky.
- Sahm opens with mango and raspberry, and ends in oud.
- Purity smells creamy, not sugary. Milk and musk soften it without making it sweet.
- Kingdom has no vanilla, but amber and labdanum give it a resinous sweetness.
