FAAN Qasida Al-Badr, inspired by Armani Code Absolu: what it is on its own

Quick answer: FAAN Qasida Al-Badr is a perfume inspired by Armani Code Absolu. That tells you where the idea started and nothing more. Al-Badr is its own scent with its own notes, and we do not claim the two smell alike, so read the pyramid below and the original's own page, and decide for yourself.
We are an independent retailer. FAAN Qasida Al-Badr is a 200 ml Eau de Parfum from the Qasida line. It is an original FAAN bottle, and the inspiration is listed on its product data because people search for it.
A perfume inspired by Armani Code Absolu: what that means here
The words are a pointer, not a promise. They say which scent the FAAN bottle takes as its starting point. They do not say the bottles are alike, that one replaces the other, or that you will get the same experience. We do not sell the original, so we make no comparison claims. Our guide to what inspiration means in perfume explains the idea in general.
Qasida Al-Badr on its own
- Top: bergamot, nutmeg, cardamom
- Heart: iris, sage, cedarwood
- Base: vetiver, tonka, vanilla, patchouli
The accords are aromatic, spicy and woody, and the product line reads: calm spice, powdery and dry. In the first half hour you get the bright citrus of bergamot with nutmeg and cardamom. Then the iris gives a powdery, almost cosmetic softness, sage adds a herbal edge and cedarwood holds the middle upright. The base is dry rather than sugary. Tonka and vanilla are present, but vetiver and patchouli keep them in check.
What you can check about Armani Code Absolu
We will not describe the original, because we cannot vouch for every detail of it. Its own page lists its notes, concentration and sizes. A simple method that works for any pair of perfumes: write down the notes of each, then mark the materials that appear in both lists. Al-Badr's list is bergamot, nutmeg, cardamom, iris, sage, cedarwood, vetiver, tonka, vanilla and patchouli. Overlap in a list is a reason to try them, not proof of a likeness. Only your nose can confirm that.
Where they may feel alike and where not
Two scents can share a starting idea and still differ in strength, balance and the way the base is built. Some differences are easy to name without smelling anything: concentration, bottle size and price. Others only show on skin. We would rather you smell both than trust a sentence from a shop.
Concentration, longevity and price in practice
- Concentration: Eau de Parfum, 200 ml.
- Projection: 3 out of 5, so people close to you notice it.
- Longevity: 3 out of 5. A typical Eau de Parfum lasts 4 to 8 hours, and with this rating we would expect the lower half. Our piece on how long Al-Badr lasts goes into detail.
- Price: €51.99, which is about 26 cents per ml. See the price per ml across the FAAN range for the other bottles.
- Listed for: daily wear and the office, in autumn, winter and spring. It is unisex.
Who should choose which
Choose Al-Badr if you want a dry, powdery, spicy scent that stays polite at work, in a large bottle. Choose the original if you specifically want that product, with its own maker, bottle and composition. If you are unsure, look at the notes on both pages and try the one you can sample first.
