FAAN perfumes ranked by projection: from close to room-filling

Quick answer: This perfume projection ranking puts all fourteen FAAN bottles in order. Qasida Purity is the quietest at 2 of 5. Eight bottles sit at 3, with Signature, Sahm, Mystery and Bidaya lasting longest in that group. Five bottles reach 4: Amjad Honour, Amjad Kingdom, Qasida Dunes, Queen and Bakhour. None is rated 5.
We are an independent retailer. The ratings come from the product pages, and they are our guides, not lab measurements. Projection is how far a scent travels from you. Longevity, its neighbour in the table, is how long you can smell it.
What projection means here
Projection is the distance. A bottle at 2 stays near your skin. A bottle at 4 is noticed by people who pass you. It differs from how strong the scent seems to your own nose, which fades after minutes because your nose gets used to it. If you want the term explained, read sillage and projection explained.

Rating 2 to 3 group
Purity is a lone 2: white flowers, pear and milk. The 3 group is large and varied. It holds the sweet Signature, the fruit-to-oud Sahm, the rosy Mystery, the resinous Bidaya, the fresh Coral, the powdery Al-Badr and the fruity-floral Senses. Inside it, longevity does the sorting: four last 4, three last 3. Coral, Al-Badr and Senses are the ones to top up. Our piece on how long FAAN perfumes last covers them.
Rating 4 group
Honour and Kingdom are the loudest and the longest. Dunes, Bakhour and Queen are one step behind on longevity. The five share a character: resin, smoke, leather or dark fruit. Honour is frankincense, saffron and oud. Kingdom is violet and ambergris. Dunes is pepper and leather. Bakhour is saffron and incense. Queen is cherry and coffee. All are listed for autumn and winter.
How placement changes projection
Skin warmth lifts a scent, so a spray on the chest or neck projects more than the same spray on a sleeve. Clothes hold a scent longer and release it more slowly. The wrist is not special; see our piece on pulse points. If you want a loud bottle to behave, spray clothes. If you want a quiet bottle to speak up, spray skin and add one more.
Picking by room size
- Small office, shared car: a 2 or 3. Purity, Al-Badr, Coral.
- Dinner for two: a 3 or 4. Signature, Mystery, Queen.
- Open evening, cold air, a larger room: a 4. Honour, Kingdom, Dunes.
Our guide to choosing a FAAN perfume adds taste to the list, and the full range shows every bottle.
A short example
Say you wear Qasida Al-Badr to a shared office and Qasida Dunes to dinner. Both are Eau de Parfum. Al-Badr, a 3, will be noticed by the person at the next desk. Dunes, a 4, will be noticed by the waiter. The same hand, the same two sprays, a different reach. That is all the number tells you.
FAQ
Does the ranking change with the season?
The numbers do not, but the effect does. Cold air keeps a scent close, and heat spreads it faster.
Is a 4 too loud for the office?
Often yes. One spray on clothes is the cautious way to try it.
What if the bottle is sold out?
Use the notify option on the product page. Delivery takes 3 to 6 working days in the Netherlands and 5 to 8 in the rest of the EU.
