Is FAAN Amjad Honour for women? What the notes say about who can wear it

FAAN Amjad Honour for women: the short answer, it is listed unisex

Of the fourteen FAAN bottles, only three are written for one gender: Qasida Sahm for him, and Qasida Queen and Qasida Senses for her. Honour is none of those. When a shop lists a bottle as unisex while it labels others, that is a choice, not a default.

What the notes say (not the label)

Notes have no gender, but they do have character.

• Top: frankincense, elemi, cardamom, lemon, Sichuan pepper. Dry, smoky and sharp.
• Heart: patchouli, rose, saffron, orange blossom, geranium. This is the floral part, but it is spiced and earthy, not powdery or sweet.
• Base: vanilla, amber, oud, ambergris, benzoin. Warm, resinous, smooth.

The accords are amber, woody, spicy and resinous. If you wear rich, warm scents already, you will recognise yourself here. If you only wear light florals or fruit, expect a big step.

How to wear it as her

Honour is strong, so start small.

• Two sprays: one at the base of the throat, one on a scarf or the inside of a jacket.
• Skip the wrists. Resin on a moving hand turns loud quickly.
• Apply 15 minutes before you go out, so the pepper and lemon settle.
• On clothes it lasts longer than on skin, and a wool scarf holds the resin for days.

What the first hours smell like

Do not expect a bouquet in the first minutes. Honour opens sharp: lemon, Sichuan pepper and frankincense, with a dry, smoky edge. The rose shows up after twenty minutes or so, and it comes with saffron and patchouli, so it smells like a rose in a spice market, not a rose in a vase. By hour three the base takes over: vanilla, amber and benzoin, smooth and slightly sweet. If you smell the opening on a paper strip and put it down, you have judged the first act of a long play.

Occasions where it works

The listed moments are evenings and special occasions, and the listed seasons are autumn and winter. In practice that means a dinner, a wedding in October, a winter party or a long train ride in a thick coat. It is not the choice for an open-plan office in June. Is Amjad Honour a men's perfume?

No, it is listed as unisex. The data labels three bottles for one gender, and Honour is not one of them.

Will it smell too masculine on me?

There is nothing in the notes that works against that. Rose, orange blossom and geranium sit in the heart. It is smoky and warm, and what you like in that is a matter of taste.

How many sprays should I use?

Two. The projection is 4 out of 5, so one more adds volume, not elegance.
